3rd Annual Winterfest Club Recognition and Talent Show

The Southside choir department will host the 3rd Annual Winterfest Club Recognition and Talent Show on Saturday, January 12th at 7:00 p.m. in the SHS Auditorium. According to Kori Denison, this year’s Sr. Choir President, “Winterfest, which is organized and executed by the Sr. High choir officers, gives school organizations the chance to spotlight their most active members for their service and achievement. We begin planning for the event in the fall semester and each year the event gets bigger and better.” This year, nineteen Jr. High and Sr. High clubs will be represented by the Winterfest Court. The students nominated this year as representatives by their organizations include:  Jr High Choir- Karlie Pollard and Brendan Frazier, Jr. High East- Josie Cardenas and Aiden Martin, Jr. High Gaming Club- Evan Bray and Robert Pennywitt, Jr. High Student Council- Caroline Pennywitt and Paige Kimble, Sr. Band- Belynda Murrell and John Michael Stewart, Sr. Beta Club- Kori Denison and Leanna Van, Bowling- Destiny Sharp and Michael Tucker, FBLA- Kilee Taylor and Blake Duncan, FCCLA- Hallie Allen and Summer Manuel, Key Club- Abigail Millikin and Andrea Amador, Shooting Sports Team- Caden Clark and Dalton Sparks, Soccer- Kailee McGhee and Jake Painter, Sr. Concert Choir- Maddie Poole and Logan Johnston, Sr. High East- Tanith Brown and Joshua Narramore, Sr. High Student Council- Hanna Owens and Molly Mourer, Sr. Women’s Choir- BreLynn Scott and Brittany Sanders, Teens for Christ- Bethan Murrell and Steven Stout, Quiz Bowl- Ry Townsend, and Yearbook Staff- Kassidy Barnt. 

Following the Winterfest Court presentation, there will be a talent show, featuring students from the 1st-12th grades. According to Destiny Sharp, a choir council member, “Students were selected via audition for the opportunity to perform in the talent show. Acts will include singers, instrumentalists, dancers, and even a Rubik’s cube demonstration.” This year’s talent participants are: Mashaya Smith, Hayley Neal, Kori Denison, Summer Jeffery, BreLynn Scott, Garrett Montague, Lance Caughron, 

Adrian Milsap, Randa Fields, Hayden Jackson, Micah Kelley, Atlannis Jaynes, Haidyn Harris, Sophie Bridgers, Lundyn Hernandez, Katy Tucker, Alivia Ellis, Summer Wagoner, Kourtlynn Sutton and special guests, Randy and Stephanie Wade who will perform while judge’s scores are finalized. 

Throughout the night there will be an opportunity for audience members to vote on this year’s Winterfest Organization King and Queen and the People’s Choice Talent Award. At the conclusion of the talent show, there will be a short awards ceremony to announce the winners of the talent show as chosen by the judging panel. “We hope people will join us on Saturday night to show their support during our ‘club homecoming’ and district wide talent show which will feature some awesome Southside students.”, states Sharp. Admission to the event will be $3 for students and $4 for adults. Concessions will be sold. All proceeds from the event will go toward choir camp scholarships.
